What qualifications do I need to get a job on a superyacht? 

To be considered for a job onboard a mega yacht, you will need to complete the STCW Basic Safety Training and obtain a recognised Seafarers medical certificate, such as the ENG1 Medical Certificate. These are mandatory for anyone seeking a position onboard a superyacht. 

Crew usually earn additional certified qualifications through yacht clubs, professional organisations, and other maritime schools to further enhance their career progression. 

Yacht Stews/Stewardesses and Deckhands are the point of entry for many crew members. Having a service-orientated background, such as bartending, or having worked in a high-end hotel will stand you in good stead. Knowledge of fine wines, flower arranging, or qualifications in beauty and fitness are also sought-after. Salaries typically range from €2,000 per month for junior deckhands and stewardesses and rise to €10,000+ for Captains.
