XAT (XLRI Admission Test) is a very popular MBA entrance examination which provides admission to several management programs at LIBA, Loyola institute of business administration, XISS, XIM and XLRI. Among all these, XLRI is ranked among the top five B-schools in India and is very reputed.

XAT (XLRI Admission Test) is conducted by the Xavier labor relations institute each year. Usually, the notification for the applications arrives by the last week of august. The exam is usually conducted on the first week of January and the interviews are held by the month of March.

A candidate must possess a 3 year bachelor degree or an equivalent certification of any discipline and should be recognized by the association of Indian universities in order to be eligible to write the XAT (XLRI Admission Test)

The question paper consists of 200 questions which you’ll need to be answer in 120 minutes. When compared to other MBA entrance tests, this is tougher since the time limit is very low and the numbers of questions are more.

The XAT question paper is divided into three sections with sectional timing. The sections include,

  • Logical reasoning
  • Data interpretation
  • Quantitative ability
  • Essay writing

Each correct answer would fetch you 1 mark and 1/3rd of a mark would be deducted for each wrong answer. A candidate who attempts 120 questions and gives 100 correct answers will have bright chances of getting selected than a candidate attempting all the questions with 150 correct answers.
After you finish the sections, additional fifteen minutes will be provided for essay writing. Your English writing skills will be tested in this part of the section.

After the test, the short-listed candidates will be called for a group discussion where they would be expected to solve the real time problems. Candidates who make efficient decisions will be considered for a personal interview after the group discussion process.

Selection and rejection of candidates is solely based on the discretionary power of the institute that conducts the selection process. Based on the ranks and performance, they would be called for XLRI, LIBA, and XIM etc.
