Utkal University Orissa

Uktal University was established in the year 1943 as a result of the Utkal University act of 1943 law being passed by the Orissa legislative assembly. It’s the seventh university to be established in India.

The university is situated about five kilometers from Bhubaneswar railway station.
There are more than twenty postgraduate departments and university law colleges situated in the university grounds for studies and researching in various fields such as business, sciences, law, commerce and administration among others. The university has the Madhusudan law college which seats on a peace of land about two acres. This college is located in Burdwan house.

Uktal University has a group of affiliated colleges such as Hingula degree college, Kaniha College, Anagul mahia among others.

Courses
The university offers both post graduate and undergraduate courses in different fields, among them degree, diploma, doctorate, and certificate courses. The university offers bachelor of arts, bachelor of education, bachelor and bachelor of commerce and various certificate and diploma courses in different fields such as English, geology, geography, history, mathematics, botany, anthropology and many more others.

University facilities
Guest house the university has well electricity, water supplied quest house which offer residential and meeting services to the university visitors.
Student council the university senate discharges some of its functions to the student council so as to bring a strong and healthy relationship between the senate staff and the students. This student council is responsible for organizing discussions on various topics, inviting eminent and other people to address the students, organizing various debates and to channel students’ suggestions and needs to the senate body.

Library- the university has a well stoked library with various partitions such as there is the senior reading room, research cubicles- this contain special research materials in any given field of research and the general reading room where the rest of the student gather to do there general reading and study.

Computer center it has a well developed computer center with modern computers and internet based. There are various types of tasks done here such as monthly salary preparation for the university employees, calculation and maintaining of student accounts, training of both postgraduate and undergraduate student, student particles and research.

Other facilities found at the university are the hostels, health centre, gymnasium and club for offering extra curriculum activities to students.

Admission
Admission to the university is based on merit.
The syllabus is sent to students in installments each containing questions which are to be answered by the students and sent back to the directors to mark. The programme is organized once in a year in order to allow new students join the university.

Postgraduate and undergraduate vacancies are always available at the university and everyone is encouraged to make application in relevant fields of study. Utkal University has set up a body that to offer bursaries to its students who have difficulties in completing there feels. This is done to enable them complete their studies.
