It’s not the easiest of decisions to make even when you’re 20 and just starting out on a career, so if you’re nearing 40 and have crossed half your adult life, how do you justify choosing a new career? Career changes are not uncommon and many people have done it successfully irrespective of their age, but each of us is different. So if you’re contemplating it too and if you’re not really sure of your decision, here are a few questions you can ask yourself to ensure that you’re doing the right thing:

Are you making drastic changes on a whim? If you’ve made the decision based on someone else’s life or if you’re changing careers on a whim, then you need to rethink your decision. A career change is not easy, especially if you’re not as healthy as you used to be and if you have to relearn or learn skills that you don’t have. So before you quit your job on a whim, take stock of the pros and cons of the change and make the decision accordingly.

Why you want the change? Is it something that you must do or are you being tempted by offers of large sums of money for doing relatively nothing? Some people quit their regular jobs because they think it’s easier to earn more money working online or by working the stock market. They don’t realize the risks that exist when they fail to consider why they want the change. If it is just for more money, don’t do it, especially if the risk factor is high. Better a known devil than an unknown entity that looks like a friend.

What you want to do? If you know exactly what you want to do when you decide on a career change, perhaps you stand a chance of success. But if you just go around saying that you need a change without knowing what exactly you want to change to, you’re only going to end up jumping from one option to the other without any sense of permanency.

Are you up to the challenge? A career change involves learning new skills, picking up new abilities, and changing the way you’ve been doing everything so far. And when you’re nearing or above 40, your health is not what it was when you were 20. So make sure that your health is up to the challenges of the new job and if your age is acceptable in your new profession. The mind may be willing, but if the flesh is weak, there’s no use of changing careers.

Online schools used to be fodder for jokes, but today the climate has changed quite a bit and a forum that was once considered unprofessional is now dominated by high quality educational institutions, some of which have well-respected brick and mortar counterparts. For many working professionals, online courses can be a great way to get ahead in a career, make the move to a higher position and perhaps even secure a better salary.

If you’re still on the fence about taking a course online consider these points:

Online Course Student

You can stay up-to-date. If you graduated from college more than five years ago chances are good that what was being taught when you were in school has changed a little bit from what is being taught today. Online courses can help you keep up with these changes and stay on top of your game.

You’ll gain experience with the latest technologies. Those who are not especially tech-savvy can learn quite a bit from working in the online format. You’ll be forced to interact in online communities, manage your coursework, and use some of the latest and greatest technologies to learn—something that can help you big time on the job.

You can get extra certifications. For most people, getting extra certifications can be a big asset to a resume or to salary negotiations. Plus, it will help you to know more about what you do and to feel more authoritative and comfortable doing it.

Online programs often let you work and go to school at the same time. Perhaps one of the biggest assets of online education programs is that since they are often asynchronous they allow you to gain additional experience at work while earning the degree or certification you want. While it’s a lot of work to balance both, you’ll reap the benefits of the situation in the end.

Gaining education shows a commitment to improvement. Employers often take it to heart when employees seek out more training and education. It takes a person who is serious about their field and about getting ahead to invest more time and money into education, so it can be a great thing to highlight at a job interview.

You’ll have a more impressive resume. It never hurts to have some extra qualifications and degrees on your resume. Going to classes online can be an easier way to balance your work and personal life with improving your education and giving yourself more career power.

Courses on Event Management

Event management is a product of the new age. This is because there is excessive glamour and flamboyance being attached to social and corporate events of all kinds. From work shops to birthdays and product launches to marriages everyone is looking to stage the perfect and most stylish event.

The television media and the film industry have had a great influence on the lives of many people leaving them wanting the same kind of style and glamour in their lives. The entertainment industry as well as ordinary people now requires the services of trained event management professionals who can help them put up a great event.

The event management industry was recorded as generating revenue of over 1500 crores last year. The event manager orchestrates the whole event from the initial stages to the wrap up at the end. It is the event manager that plans and conceives and then figures out a way to translate these ideas into practical reality.

This is a very intense job as it requires taking many things into consideration such as the budget of the event holder, the target audience and how to reach out to them, knowing the purpose of the event and developing ways of meeting the objective etc. This is the reason why professional training in the field of event management is imperative.

Getting event management training in India :
Due to the great demand of trained event management professionals many institutes are now offering event management courses at different levels in India. The Amity Institute of Event Management offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. The Event Management Development Institute is another reputable organization dedicated to the purpose.

The Indian Institute of Event Management offers excellent programs in the field and so does the Indian Institute of Management. If you are looking for the best of the best then you have the International Center for Event Marketing as the ideal alternative. Another prestigious institute is the National Institute of Event Management.

Eligibility criteria :
You can opt for an event management diploma course after having completed your higher secondary education. A post graduate diploma in event management requires the candidate to have completed his graduation in any discipline whatsoever. After completing this course the student can also apply to prestigious institutes abroad in order to pursue their masters.

The skills you learn :
The various event management courses equip the individual with invaluable skills that can come in very handy through out all aspects of his life and particularly his career as an event management professional. The first and most important thing that a person acquires is leader ship qualities along with the skills of developing public relationships.

The marketing and business acumen of an individual is polished through these courses. An individual will be able to develop excellent budgeting skills as well as risk management skills. All these qualities will give him the required insight and foresight to deliver a satisfactory service to his clients.

An event management course does not only make an individual capable of conceptualizing rather it makes the individual capable of rendering his concepts and ideas into reality by executing them to perfection. Such street smart individuals are desperately sought after by various agencies in India as well as abroad.

You have just completed your education and now are looking for a job by applying for openings in all the best MNC’s and trying for a chance in any of them. In India generally most MNC’s pay their employees/freshers a pay out of around 6000-10000Rs(150-250USD)/Month with a 3-6 months training period during which the fresher is given complete training about how to get started and what’s their requirement in these job profiles. This year the number of job openings has also went down with the decrease in the jobs and IT sector being down which is the reason most of the freshers contact the Consultancy firms for getting a job and these firms who have a tie up with the MNC’s HR.

The freshers need to generally pay their first month’s salary to the consultancy firm in order to get the job secured and would have a guaranteed job term of 3 months in the specified company, but if you directly contact any MNC in cities like Hyderabad(Hitech City), Bangalore(Electronic City) then you will be asked a one time fees of 1,00,000Rs – 2,50,000(2500-10000USD) for securing a job in a company in a decent post. There was a time when the freshers would get jobs based on their abilities but now most of the companies staff is hired this way in which they take money from the employees to get them in.

Recently i have read about many bad experiance’s from freshers who were guaranteed jobs in top companies by these consultancies like Bootstrap Technology, Hyderabad, SAT infotech, Hyderabad, Miracle corporation, Microsat Corporation, Kashyap Technologies, Chennai, Surge Infotech, Hyderabad, SapGURU, SHARP PATH,Hyderabad, Adira Technologies Bangalore, Outset Technologies, iCamberwell Solutions & Services, Power Views Technologies, Sorix Solutions, Cogent software technologies, Sermon Technologies, Royal Vision Solutions, Softel Integerated, Inspirion Consulting, Ition Solutions, Sai Medha Computers, Virinchi Technologies, iNest Solutions, Suffix Solutions, Acute Hi Technologies/ Acute Technologies, Keyoon Solutions etc in the metro cities and they were scammed at the end with amounts being in 5-6 figures and the freshers left nowhere with money & time being wasted. This is the very reason its recommended to apply for jobs using online jobs portals because these offer a almost direct contact with the companies HR team and can offer a better scope to the freshers. You just need to make sure that you have got a professional resume written for your job application with complete details, education qualifications, experiance’s , projects information, previous job details, hobbies, special skills, specialities, interests etc and all of these perfectly formatted in a word document and also a hard copy available ready for interviews.

When you are offered for a placement like a Job in Google you should not worry about the present offered salary which is generally ranging from 8000Rs- 17000Rs/month in the beginning 6 months during which you will be offered training because thats not the end and your future is almost secured as the job offer would help you grow slowly but for sure you will grow in terms of job positions and salary. You should never think about short term when you are offered a job offer in a very good company because if you think about the starting pay you would recieve, the first think you should have in your mind is ‘What would the Company get from your end when you have no idea about their business/products/services’. If you start your own business can you seriously make money from the very first day or does it take sometime in order to make money, develop reputation, branding etc similarly the case would go with a fresh new job.

Try to avoid all the fake job offers you get from the consultancies which lure the freshers for a better job when paying a quite good amount of fees and you need to directly contact the companies if you have a self-belief and the right attitude that you can for sure perform well at the interview. Even if you fail once or twice in a Interview never think that as a end and worry because Practice makes man perfect and you need to make sure you keep trying out a couple times and this can make you succeed. Everyone does not get a job in a Campus Interview but what’s important is the spirit to keep trying and if you seriously give a try you can win for sure. In a Interview you should never stay tensed because the interviewers would not give you any physical harm nor any harassment, then why do the freshers stay in a fear? There is no point to worry about these things because what matters is the seriousness from your end and the passion to get the job.

With the IT Sector down at the moment in India you need to go for optional options while getting to the right career and this would include getting a part time job at the time while you are applying for a job in a MNC because a part time job would help you in keeping busy and stay on the track and would also help you memorize everything, rather in the case of a jobless when you would forget everything you have learnt and this would increase your fears during the interview. Before getting ready for jobs you also need to find what’s your real passion for and do you really want to go for the service industry or you have the skills to start your own business which would give you better fruits. It all depends on the way you plan out and you need to seriously decide what would be the right career for you.

If you have the right skills its also recommended for you to go for a Abroad job and we will discuss about this in our next article!
