Osmania University Hyderabad Logo Osmania University was established in 1918 as the seventh oldest one in India, the third oldest in the south India and indeed the first to be established in the Erstwhile Princely state of Hyderabad. For eight decades it has evidenced outstanding progress and all round growth of all faculties; its academic and economic contribution is a national topic in India with its Alumni selling within and without.

With about 1600 acres of developed land it is perhaps the largest in the country with over 300, 000 students and nearly 5000 academic staff in its campus, constituents, affiliated colleges and district centers.

Academic programs
Osmania is indeed a multi-faculty and a multidisciplinary university with varied courses in different areas: Humanities, Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Technology, Commerce and Business Management, Information Technology and Oriental Languages. The institutions teaching, learning and research direction emphasizes respect for the concerns of the humanity and need to address concerns that challenge it.

In recognition of excellent academic plight, the university was awarded the “A” status grade by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council in the year 2008. Students Welfare
Student’s welfare while at the university is well taken care of; there is a health care that offers free medical treatment and specialized medical advice. Students who may receive guests are free to take them to the guest house which has well furnished single and double rooms. The students hostels accommodates over 4500 students who hail out of Hyderabad city – securing accommodation is through an application that is filed immediately after admission to the chief warden through the respective head of departments and the principal of the college – engineering and lady students have reserved hostels. All the hostels have captivating and endearing names named after the major rivers of India. The students are also provided with post office and banking facilities within the university.

International students
Osmania University offers a variety of opportunities to the international students by catering for their interests, background and expectations. Currently it is a home of over 650 students from over 46 different countries, indeed from the words of their mouths –being at Osmania is worth cherishing as a meaningful and rewarding experience.
