National Institute of Fashion Technology New Delhi

Famously known as NIFT, it is one of the most premier institutes in India to impart knowledge and to produce world class fashion designers. The institute is situtated in the heart of New Delhi. It was established long back in the year of 1986. It was founded under the supervision of the Textile Ministry with a vision to bring the Indian fashion industry to the notice of the entire world. The Institute is Deemed under the UGC Act of 1956.

The institute offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Candidates willing to get admitted to NIFT needs to take the admission tests conducted by the institute. The undergraduate programme offers two types of courses, one is the Undergraduate Programme in Design and the other one is the Under Graduate Programme in Fashion Technology. The first course is oriented more towards the designing aspect while the second one is focused to the technological aspects. For the under graduate couses, an aspirant needs to pass the 10+2 with physics or chemistry or mathematics as subjects.

Then they have to sit for the common admission test conducted by the institute. The test comprises both creative aptitude and general aptitude. Under the post graduate programme, a number of courses are offered, they are Post Graduate Programme in Fashion Management, Post Graduate Programme in Fashion Technology and Post Graduate Programme in design space. To qualify for the post graduate programmes, the candidates are required to have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of fashion diploma, or a B.E or a BTech degree in textile or apparel or production or mechanical or electronics or technology or computers or information technology. In addition to that the students who are aspirants of the designing courses, they require get through a creative and general ability test conducted by the institute.
