Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata

Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) was established by professor P.C. Mohalanobis in Kolkata on 17th December, 1931 and added the status of an Institutional of National Importance by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1959. It is an exclusive institute developed to research, teaching and application of statistics, natural science and social sciences.

The head office of ISI is situated in the northern border of the metropolis of Kolkata. There are also two centers situated in Delhi and Bangalore. Study in statistics and linked disciplines are the primary activity of the institute. Teaching activities are embarked mostly in Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore. The offices of the institute situated in numerous other cities in India are chiefly involved in projects and consultancy in Statistical Quality Control and operations Research.

The courses offered at Indian Statistical Institute include:

  • Undergraduate Programs: ISI Kolkata offers 3 years B.Stat. (Hons.) And B.Math (Hons.) courses at the Undergraduate level.
  • Postgraduate Programs: ISI Kolkata tender 2 years M.Stat, M.Math, M.S. In Quantitative Economics, M.Tech. In Computer Science and M.Tech. In Quality, consistency and procedural Research at the Postgraduate level.

For admission to the undergraduate program at ISI Kolkata, a candidate must have the following qualifications: Have passed 10+2 years of higher secondary education or corresponding with Mathematics and English. The candidates are short listed for entrance on the basis of a printed test performed in different centers across India followed by an interview. Candidates who have approved the Bachelor’s Degree in their given areas are qualified for admissions to the Postgraduate Programs at ISI Kolkata. Students of ISI Kolkata are presented straight entry into the programs. Students from other institutes are chosen on the foundation of their precedent academic presentation in written selection tests and subsequent dialogue.

Candidates who have approved Master’s Degree or corresponding in their given fields are entitled for admission to the Ph. D. programs at ISI Kolkata. Students are chosen on the foundation of their past academic performance, performance in written assortment tests and successive interviews. Candidates who have been rewarded investigation fellowship by CSIR/NBHM are entitled for direct admissions to the course. For the candidates who want to join for Diploma, Certificate and Associate ship programs, they are required to complete the eligibility criteria fixed by the institute for the particular programs.
