The true fact about the most of the indian students is that they just want to get settled as quick as possible. Most of the students just want a job with a handsome salary just after they complete their so called wierdo B.Tech. But on the international level we stand no where and this is just because of this attitude. The most interesting fact is that India is the only country to produce so called engineers in so much bulk( One of the countries to produce maximum number of engineers) but our nation has no engineering marvels and this is because they are becoming engineers just to earn money not for engineering interests, Today the scope of engineering is prevailing so the students are running after it, a decade back everyone was running after M.Sc because it was prevailing at that time. A regular trend that we all see is that doing MBA after engineering these are not the traits of a engineering oriented student, the IITs are losing their ranks at the international level for the same reason and the only Institute of India that is shining always is IISc Bangalore and soon the IISERs will do the same if students with good aptitude reach there. As we all know the entrance criteria of our so called prestigious IITs is a shit , i mean set of objective questions nothing such as subjective to test the real knowledge ( jugaad to aap log jantey hi honge sawaal karney ke) so we are degrading. This is the truth about our engineers that are produce in IITs ,only a handfull are really deserving, and if i am wrong then where is the NOBEL PRIZE after Sir C.V Raman, The IISERs are the best place to start for students who are interested in research , good things come only after a long process so keep patience while you do research, a true researcher never thinks of jobs, it comes to him automatically due to his skills. So keep working hard Even the Maxwell Boltzmann Statistics says average energy molecules(Most of The B.Techs{money money money money}) are high in number and molecules with high energy ( true science lovers) are lesser in number so just relax and be peaceful and the NOBLE PRIZE we are going to get it really soon.

To K

With all India rank 1 not only me but also the fool who is showing his love for science will go for engineering in the IITs................... and also you too K............... Well let me tell you I did join science because I gave science my second preference after engineering at IITs........... I left engineering at NIT-Trichy just for the sake of preference to science but this is all true that I gave engineering at IITs the higher preference than doing MS at IISERs and that is true because and engineering degree from IITs will in some way assure you a far better life than doing MS at IISER. Joining IISER is a matter of struggle. If you would be able to hold on to your grounds and come up with a success you are not just paying any way for yourself but also for the future students who are coming following your footmarks. And I do appreciate anyone from IISER going for MBA and IAS because according to me we must show to everyone that we are not a uni dimensional person but rather a multi-dimensional persons who can flag off the victory flag anywhere in the world.

All the very best K, I am not at all saying you are wrong but I would also say that what I said had a truth in it too. If IIT's M.Sc. students can get placement then why not us.....................

Have a great day and a very bright future.

Deeksha, keep checking the website of IISER Kolkata for application details. The details will be out around January 2011.
You need to apply after that.
