Joint Entrance Management Aptitude test (JEMAT) is conducted by the Government of West Bengal through the West Bengal University of technology for the admission of candidates for the post graduate courses of MBA.
Admissions for MBA in every Management Institutes in West Bengal are conducted only through Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test.
Bachelor’s degree is the minimum qualifications required to appear in the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test in West Bengal. Bachelor’s degree can be in Arts, Commerce, Science, Medical, Engineering, Agriculture, Dental or Technology.
Other equivalent courses that are recognized by Universities as a Bachelor’s degree are also considered for Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test.
The candidates who are in their final year of graduation and the ones who are scheduled to appear for the current year may also apply for the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test and appear for the same. The structure of the written test is based on objective type questions.
Major subjects that are covered in the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude test are English, Mathematics and Logical reasoning. The marks for each subject are divided as 40 marks each for English and Mathematics and 20 marks for Logical reasoning. The duration of the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test is two hours.
The time of the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test starts from eleven in the morning. The candidates are required to be present at the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test premises an hour before the start of the test.
After the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude written test, the candidates who get the merit in the written test will be short listed and called for Group discussions and personal interviews.
The evaluation of the merit list will be based on the weightage of different components of the Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test. The candidate will be considered in the merit list based on the weight-age given as under:
- 80% weight-age is given to Written Test
- 10% weight-age is given to Group Discussion and
- 10% weight-age is given to Personal Interview
