The college was started in 1945 in a small building but moved to its current location ten years latter i.e. 1955. The college located in Maharashtra area in Pune, India boasts of a population of 5000 thousand students. The college is affiliated with the University of Pune.
Courses
The college is an Arts and Science college thus the courses offered are linked to the two. The courses are, in Arts they offer Bachelor of Arts in English, Marathi, Hindi, Sanskrit, Mass Communication, History, Geography, Politics, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Logic, Philosophy and Psychology and Education.
In science the courses offered are Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Botany, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Electronic Sciences, Computer Sciences, Biotechnology and Microbiology, Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Microbiology and Biotechnology, Bachelor of Science in Biodiversity, Library Science and Information Science.
The courses are catered to suit people in the fast paced world in business, industry and technology.
Extracurricular activities
The college offers different forms of extracurricular activities to help take the student take off some steam and also change from the monotonous schedule of attending classes. The most common form of extracurricular activities is sports and the games on offer in the college are Cricket, football, Basketball, Hockey, Tennis, Rugby and Badminton.
The students also participate in different clubs like the Journalism club, Actuarial club and many more. This clubs help them interact with other students while at the same time they are discussing educational topics and discussions but from a different forum other than the lecture halls.
Amenities
The college has a library which has books covering all topics in the curriculum offered in the college. The college has small libraries in the different departments found in the school. These only carry books to do with the department or books in the field the department deals with. The library has a home lending program whereby the students are allowed to borrow books and go with them they continue doing their research.
The school also has hostels set in lush surroundings. The first hostel buildings were built in 1958 just after the school had moved to the newly acquired site. The hostels are divided in two, the boys and girls sections.
A canteen is also found within the hostels; the canteen serves the students staying in the hostels and provides quality meals at all times. Only vegetarian food is served in the canteen.

The admission forms are found in the college offices. The school Registrar helps the students pick a course which goes with their qualification.

I wanted to know, Howz the history of MSc (Microbio) admissions at Garware. Does it always get full in the 1st round itself, or is there a 2nd round every year?? I’m an Outside Pune university student, who’ll be attending the Table admission forum on 9th july 09, but my list was the last in the list if student invited. So im wondering if these people keep some buffer for absentees/rejections, OR is it like all in the invites in 1st round list do get selected for sure??
