Bharathidasan Institute of Management or BIM is located in Tiruchirapalli. It is one of the premier institute imparting quality management education to the budding managers of the country. The institute was established in the year 1984.

The founding fathers of the institute are Professor P.S Mani Sundaram and Professor C Subramanian. The annual intakes for the institute is 120. Doctor Abdul Kalam had chosen the institute as training ground for the DRDO scientists. The students are selected for its Masters in Business Administration course on the basis of their CAT scores. After qualifying the cutoff marks required by the institute, the candidates have to go through a rigorous group discussion and personal interview.

The students aspiring for admission in BIM have to separately fill the forms for the institute alongside writing the CAT. The course is two year full time residential type. On completion of two years the students are awarded with a degree of MBA. The streams in which specialization is offered by the course are marketing, operations, finance, human resource and systems. At times the institute also considers the XAT score.

There is no age limit for the MBA course offered by BIM. There are reservations for the candidates under SC/ST/ OBC category according to the rules of the department of MHRD. The Marketing technique taught by BIM is practiced in a renouned institution of the Tata Group that is in TELCO.

In the financial courses along with the regular courses, knowledge is provided in the field of financial engineering and international finance, taxation management and commercial bank management. Besides this course, the institute also holds a Management Development Programme. This is basically an in house training of the working executives. It has conducted the management training programmes for the exectives of BHEL, Indian Railways, SBI, LIC and many more.
